History
Episode 1 The Brass Thief
Varr was carrying the oilcloth-wrapped Brass compass "like a man carrying a baby he did not want" when Mira Osk picked his pocket on the Fishmarket Stair. Whistles went up after the theft, and the Gull Gate bell soon rang the closing of the harbour hours early.
Episode 2 The Salt Barge
Varr intercepted the Patience in a Warden cutter at the Gull Gate, demanding "something of mine". He recognised Mira as Ada Osk's daughter and said he had known her mother. Seren of Esk's tidecalling grounded the cutter and the returning sea smashed it against the harbour wall; his fate afterwards was not shown.
Episode 3 What the Water Keeps
Mira dreamed of him saying "I knew your mother".
